Lugar Center for Rural Health Award

Sullivan, IN, November 7, 2016 Dr. Barbara Mowery, a Sullivan County Community Hospital family practice physician, was selected as the 2016 Doc Hollywood Award Recipient by the Ricard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health in Terre Haute, IN.

Dr. Mowery, a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Terre Haute, and Union Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency, served as a preceptor for the Lugar Center’s Summer Hoosier Rural Preceptorship. Mowery is described by students as being a wonderful mentor with a compassionate and caring attitude for her patients and students.

The Lugar Center presents the annual Doc Hollywood Award to an everyday hero committed to providing care to rural and underserved communities. DOC Hollywood Day recognizes medical students and their mentors who are committed to providing health care to individuals in rural and underserved communities.
